Celebrate Sierra Nevada’s 30th anniversary at the Surly Goat

On November 15, 1980, the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. brewed the first batch of what would soon become a landmark in American craft brewing: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Now in 2010 we want to celebrate the 30 years of this American brewing pioneer with a anniversary party at The Surly Goat. We will be serving rare Sierra Nevada Beers on draft, Including for the first time in Los Angeles; Torpedo Ale, 20th St. Pale Ale, and Casks of both Celebration Ale and Estate Homegrown IPA. In honor of the 30th anniversary we will be selling the first keg of Sierra Nevada pale ale for $.30 a half-pint.

Vegan Beer Fest this Saturday at The Roxy

Tickets are still available for LA’s first Vegan Beer Fest this Saturday on the Sunset Strip.   Hosted by Tony’s Darts Away and Quarry Girl, the event will feature 5 bands and tons of great beer from Deschutes, Lagunitas, Firestone, Anchor, Ballast Point, Mad River, and from local favorites Eagle Rock, Bootlegger’s, and Strand.

Tickets are $35 presale, but will also be available at the door for $45.  You can save $10 by buying presale at the Roxy Box Office or by calling 310-278-9457.  Tickets are also available on Ticketbastard, but prepare to spend extra $$ on “convenience” fees.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Animal Rescue Media Education, a local organization that seeks to eliminate the suffering of animals through rescuing homeless animals and educating the public of the vast extent of animal cruelty.

10.10.10 Stone Vertical Epic Day Collides With LA Beer Week

Today’s the official day for Vertical Epic, so don’t forget to get out there and grab some bottles to cellar.  This year’s beer is a Belgian Pale brewed with camomille that made it’s LA debut at Naja’s this past Thursday.

    From the Stone Blog:

Fermented with the legendary Ardennes strain of Belgian yeast, 10.10.10 is a Belgian Strong Pale Ale brewed with pale malt and triticale (a cross of wheat and rye), hopped with German Perle hops, and steeped with chamomile during the whirlpool stage. In secondary fermentation, we added a juice blend of Muscat, Gewurztraminer, and Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties.

Lucky Devil’s was scheduled to do a 3pm tapping, but it looks like it’s been pushed back til Tuesday.  Because today’s a Sunday, we might not see this one on the shelves until tomorrow.

Let us know in the comments where you find bottles or kegs of Vertical Epic 10.10.10  around LA!
