The Yard Unleashes The Dark Lord Upon LA

The impromptu and unofficial bottle share occupying the back corner of The Bruery’s Black Tuesday party last month,  was filled with chatter about another, harder to procure (in these parts at least) dark one, a certain 14% evil ruler. Now the surface  of Santa Monica will crack open and all will be drowned in darkness! 3 Floyd’s Dark Lord Imperial Stout has landed!

    Tomorrow ~ Wednesday, November 17 · 5:00pm – 9:00pm

The Yard continues its Rare Beer series with a hard to get, highly rated Imperial Stout from Muncie, Indiana – Three Floyd’s Dark Lord. A limited amount of this beer will be available for our Stout/Porter tasting on the 17th.

    The tasting will also include:

Oskar Blues Ten Fiddy (on tap)

    Allagash Black (on tap)

    Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast

The Yard is located @ 119 Broadway Santa Monica, CA

    Tuesday Picks for Beer Week

Good morning Beer Geeks! How’s the ol’ liver holding up?

Tuesday is the 6th day of LA Beer Week, and the lineup is looking pretty solid.

    Surly Goat

Tonight at the Surly Goat, David Walker and Jace Milstead of Firestone-Walker will hold a mock blending session, giving you a peek behind the curtain into one of their anniversary beer blending sessions. For anyone who’s ever read the rolled up page that comes inside the box each year, this is a can’t miss event.  Available on draft this evening: Abacus, Bravo, Parabola, XIII, and more.  8pm

    Eagle Rock Brewery

So you want to open a brewery, eh?  If you’ve read the Eagle Rock blog, you know what a challenge it was to get everything up and running.  From permits to inspections to city hall meetings, there’s a lot of work that goes into it.  Drop by the brewery tonight to learn from the following recently opened breweries:  Nibble Bit Tabby Brewery, Strand Brewing, Brouwerij West, Ladyface Ale Companie, as well soon-to-open Beachwood Brewing and Ohana Brewing.  Panel discussion will be moderated by Tomm Carroll of Celebrator Beer News.  7pm at the Eagle Rock Tasting Room. (More …)

Events for Monday, October 11th: Oktoberfest at Daily Pint, Lagunitas at MB Brewco, Port at BottleRock

    The Daily Pint

Didn’t get enough Oktoberfesting in at Verdugo Bar this Saturday? Stop by the Daily Pint tonight for steins and sausages. Six Weihenstephans will be on tap, and you’ll have the chance to take home your giant mug.

    Brewco Manhattan Beach

What happened to Manhattan Beach Brewing Company? Did it change ownership? No longer focused on their own brews, they seem to be pouring a (somewhat) respectable selection of Craft Brews these days. Maybe Simmzy’s rubbed off on them? Can I fit any more question marks into this paragraph?

    BottleRock Culver City

Tonight its Port Brewing / Lost Abbey night at the Culver City gastropub.  Featured beers: Port High Tide Fresh Hop IPA, Old Viscosity, Panzer Pils, Lost Abbey Devotion, Judgement Day, and Inferno Ale.  Tasting is $16 and runs from 7pm to 9pm.

    Beachwood BBQ

If you’ve got tickets for tonight’s Molecular Beer Dinner with The Bruery, you’ve got the hottest ticket in town.  Take lots of pictures for the rest of us, OK?  Beers on tonight’s menu:

    • Saison De Lente
    • Trade Winds Tripel
    • Autumn Maple
    • Loakal Red
    • Pinotlambicus
    • 100% Bourbon barrel-aged Coton
    • Mélange #3
    • Black Tuesday
