Harvest Beer Fest Invades Echo Park This Saturday

Rock & Beer a match seemingly made in heaven. Too many times though, I have joyfully entered a rock venue only to find a depressing spread of boring and overpriced “beer” options waiting at the bar. This weekend that all changes when Rock & Beer will see the marriage they were meant to enjoy.

The Harvest Beer Festival will take over at the Echo & Echoplex in Echo Park with a great roster of bands, brews and bites.  $30 for all you can drink and all you can rock is a nice change of pace from the $40 & $50 tickets that have become the norm in these parts. Most importantly though, proceeds from this event will go toward the incredible 826LA, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.

Saturday Nov. 20th Noon -7pm, $30 Tix Here

Here are a few names from the list of 50 Breweries whose beer will be flowing:

    · Stone

    · Bootlegger’s

The Yard Unleashes The Dark Lord Upon LA

The impromptu and unofficial bottle share occupying the back corner of The Bruery’s Black Tuesday party last month,  was filled with chatter about another, harder to procure (in these parts at least) dark one, a certain 14% evil ruler. Now the surface  of Santa Monica will crack open and all will be drowned in darkness! 3 Floyd’s Dark Lord Imperial Stout has landed!

    Tomorrow ~ Wednesday, November 17 · 5:00pm – 9:00pm

The Yard continues its Rare Beer series with a hard to get, highly rated Imperial Stout from Muncie, Indiana – Three Floyd’s Dark Lord. A limited amount of this beer will be available for our Stout/Porter tasting on the 17th.

    The tasting will also include:

Oskar Blues Ten Fiddy (on tap)

    Allagash Black (on tap)

    Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast

The Yard is located @ 119 Broadway Santa Monica, CA

Sierra Nevada Debuts New Brews @ The Surly Goat!

The Surly Goat folks responsible for unleashing the impossibly awesome Firestone Walker mock blending last month in West Hollywood are back for another awesome night of beer exclusives!

    Monday, November 15, 2010 (6:00 PM)

Celebrate Sierra Nevada’s 30th anniversary at the Surly Goat

On November 15, 1980, the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. brewed the first batch of what would soon become a landmark in American craft brewing: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Now in 2010 we want to celebrate the 30 years of this American brewing pioneer with a anniversary party at The Surly Goat. We will be serving rare Sierra Nevada Beers on draft, Including for the first time in Los Angeles; Torpedo Ale, 20th St. Pale Ale, and Casks of both Celebration Ale and Estate Homegrown IPA. In honor of the 30th anniversary we will be selling the first keg of Sierra Nevada pale ale for $.30 a half-pint.
